About Me
Once I understand your goals for a writing, editing or research project, I’ll help you achieve those goals as quickly as I can.
I offer you over 30 years of experience creating documents that communicate information clearly and accurately. I started writing professionally in the mid-1970s as a newspaper columnist focusing on the arts. Then I served for several years as a U.S. diplomat working on information and cultural issues in the Middle East. I transitioned from international diplomacy to domestic politics in the mid-1980s when I became a health lobbyist on Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C. That led to nearly two decades of work as a U.S. government contractor and private foundation grantee in the areas of social marketing and youth development. I’ve been a freelance writing, editing and research consultant since 2005.
Over the years, my tested skill with words has enabled me to:
- Condense complex ideas and numbers and make them understandable
- Persuade people to take a specific position on issues
- Promote the achievements and potential of organizations
- Identify and analyze the factors that influence human behavior
- Help organizations plan and evaluate their activities
- Improve professional capabilities through training
My first published work – a non-fiction book of essays about experimental colleges – was published by Harper & Row (now HarperCollins) when I was 23 years old. Since then, my work has appeared in numerous professional journals, newspapers, newsletters and academic books.
My full resume is available on request.
